Good news at VT Halter

The news that VT Halter Marine received a $15 million contract to build NOAA’s newest research vessel is a shot in the arm for the company’s Moss Point shipyard.

An announcement the next day that the company was awarded a $200 million contract by the U.S. Navy to build its new class of spy ship is icing on the cake.

NOAA’s SWATH CMV will be delivered in 2008. The ship’s mission is to map the sea flood along the Atlantic Coast, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the Great Lakes.
