Gold Coast marine precinct loses megayacht Helios refit

The Oceanco megayacht, Helios, is being refitted in Brisbane and not, as scheduled, in the Coomera marine precinct, because silting of the river has blocked the passage of large yachts. The 59 metre Helios draws 3.75 metres and the Coomera river now has a navigable depth of only 3.5 metres. Coomera yards had negotiated the contract for a $1 million refit of the Helios, including constructing a new helipad, whilst the vessel was in Fiji, last week.
