Cargo ship rams bridge southwest of Montreal, damages hull and closes bridge

ST-LOUIS-DE-GONZAGUE, Que. (CP) – A bridge southwest of Montreal has been forced to close for an undetermined period after being rammed by a cargo ship Tuesday.
The accident also closed the St. Lawrence Seaway for about an hour. Two holes were punched into the bow of the Voyageur Independent during the collision. The ship, which was damaged above the waterline, dropped anchor after the collision and now has to be inspected.
