Panamanian Ship Sinks, Survivors Rescued

Miami, FL. – The Coast Guard continues to search for one person from a Panamanian-flagged ship that sank last night 100 miles east of San Andres, Colombia.

The Panamanian government notified the Coast Guard that the motor vessel Dayana, a 495-foot car-carrier freight ship, had sank and requested assistance at approximately 6:50 p.m. Thursday.

The Coast Guard Cutter Gallatin arrived on scene at approximately 9 p.m. and immediately began searching for the missing crewmember. The crew of the Gallatin, saved four people, recovered one deceased and continues searching for the remaining person.
