Shipping Rates for Coal, Iron Ore Fall to Lowest in 11 Months

Shipping rates for dry-bulk commodities such as coal and iron ore fell for a third week, reaching their lowest in almost 11 months amid rising tonnage supplies. The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of chartering different-size vessels on worldwide trading routes, declined for a 11th straight session, dropping 66 points, or 1.8 percent, to 3430, according to the Baltic Exchange in London. That’s the lowest since July 6.
