Pershing 72’ named ‘European Powerboat of the Year 2008’

After a short break, the 2007/2008 season restarted in the best possible way for Pershing at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, the most important appointment for the nautical market in the Central-Northern European area, where two very successful models of the famous range of Italian open yachts have been presented from the 19th to the 27th of January on the prestigious Ferretti Group stand.
Together with the champion of sales Pershing 56’, which appeared with completely new interior finishings, the great Italian shipyard’s style and technology ambassador in the world, the Peshing 72’, was displayed for the first time in Germany.

During the Boot 2008, the Pershing 72’ has been awarded the title of ‘European Powerboat of the Year 2008’ (in the category over 50 foot) repeating the success of the Pershing 62’ in 2005.
In the occasion of an elegant gala dinner organized by Delius Klasing, in front of over 300 distinguished guests the Pershing founder an Chairman, Tilli Antonelli, with great joy collected the prize established by the leading European powerboat magazines.
The election was made among 90 European powerboats launched in the previous year in four different categories of length. Safety, workmanship, driving characteristics, handling performance, room layout, price/performance ratio and, last but not least, design have been examined thoroughly by a jury of chief editors and professional test drivers which finally awarded the latest launch of the Italian shipyard, the 72 footer.

Pershing 72’ is pure innovation, in which the painstaking attention paid to design, a high level of technology and a revolutionary interior layout have completely changed the concept of life at sea.
With a radically new hull profile, fruit of the endless creativeness of yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni, and continuous consultation with the Chairman of Pershing Tilli Antonelli, Pershing 72’ presents herself as a forerunner from every point of view.
Advanced technology is paramount on this new model, starting with the exclusive glass partition between cockpit and upper salon which slides away making it possible to transform the interior and exterior into a single area.
The night area, split into three cabins and three bathrooms, stands out for the sophisticated comfort of the full beam master cabin, which is amazingly bright and sunny thanks to two special open-view windows offering spectacular sea views.
The furnishings and finishes, the seating and leather ceiling panels were all designed in partnership with prestigious company Poltrona Frau.
With twin 1823 hp MTU Common Rail engines combined with an Arneson drive, this model can reach speeds of up to 45 knots, while maintaining a trim guaranteeing perfect comfort, fully-satisfying the sporting spirit of the Pershing brand.

The ‘European Powerboat of the Year’ award is yet more evidence of how the market continues to affirm Pershing well-merited position as an unquestioned leader in international yachting.
