Hudong-Zhonghua Well on Track with EM/MOL LNG Project

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Hudong-Zhonghua) has completed the primary hull structure of the second ExxonMobil & MOL LNG Shipbuilding Project.

The bow section of the vessel was lifted into place on September 12th by using a giant gantry crane. By placing the section ahead of schedule, the works on the cargo containment systems and ballast tank coating could start earlier, thus shortening the production cycle of the whole ship.

The newbuilding will be 290m in L.O.A, with molded breadth of 46.95m, molded depth of 26.25m, design draft of 11.50m, scantling draft of 12.50m, and will be equipped with eco-friendly MAN6S70-C8.2 engine.

MOL and Exxon Mobil Corporation (EM/MOL) in 2011 selected the shipbuilder to build four 172,000m3 LNG carriers. This was the first foreign shipping company to order LNG carriers from a Chinese shipyard.

The four LNG carriers are expected to be delivered in the 2015-2016 period.
