Hyundai Mipo Bags Two Car Carriers

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has received an order for construction of two pure car/truck carriers (PCTC).

The order has been placed by an undisclosed European shipowner, the shipyard said in a filing to Korea Stock Exchange.

The value of the deal for the two ships is KRW 172.6bn (USD 155.9m).

According to the filing, the ships are slated for delivery in the second quarter of 2017. Further details on the characteristics of the ships have not been disclosed.

This is the first car carrier order placed at the yard this year.
