Hyundai Mipo Pens Major Deal with BP Shipping

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. (HMD) said in a regulatory filing today that it has secured a contract valued at 602.7 billion won ($573.4 million) to deliver 14 petroleum product carriers to Britain’s BP Shipping Ltd.

The delivery of the vessels is scheduled to take place until July 2017.

At the end of November, HMD won another major contract boosting its orderbook to $4.1 billion. The signed deal was related to five product carriers for a European shipowner, to be delivered by the end of August 2016.

The contract was estimated to be worth around $187 million.
