Inpex: McDermott’s DLV2000 to secure Ichthys subsea distribution units

Inpex, the operator of the Ichthys LNG project, said that McDermott’s 184 meters long DLV2000 vessel left the Port of Broome on Sunday, heading for the Ichthys field. 

According to a brief company statement, Inpex said on Monday that the vessel will undertake subsea installation work for the Ichthys LNG project.

The DLV2000 will secure the project’s drill center control system, the six subsea distribution units in the Ichthys field, 220 kilometers offshore Western Australia.

The vessel will also be deployed on the installation of large subsea spools, laying infield umbilicals and lifting several subsea distribution units that will provide the hydraulic, chemical and electrical distribution from the umbilicals to the subsea drill centers.

The US$34 billion Ichthys project is scheduled to start production by the third quarter of 2017, and is set to have an annual LNG production capacity 8.9 mtpa.

The project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, Taiwan’s CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
