Iran: Gas Export Up 8%

Iran’s gas export has increased by 8 percent during the first month of winter compared with the same period last year, deputy of managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Mr. Khashkoli announced here on Sunday.

According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, the increase in gas exports during the peak domestic consumption in cold winter months reflects the capacity of NIGC in producing and processing natural gas as well as transferring it from southern gas fields to final destinations in far north of the country in the border with Turkey.

“Since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year gas supply by domestic resources and gas import show an increase compared with the same period last year”, he said.

It’s worth mentioning that gas distribution to the country’s power plants, major industries and CNG consumption has increased compared with last year.
