Island Tiger and Island Panther Complete Another UK Offshore Windfarm Charter

Island Shipping announced that two of the company’s wind-farm service vessels, Island Tiger and Island Panther have recently completed another successful UK offshore windfarm charter.

Both vessels have carried out 120 days charter on behalf of Centrica at the Lincs Offshore Windfarm construction site in the North Sea. Island Shipping is delighted that both boats have completed their assignment on Lincs with no days lost to mechanical failure.

Working out of Sutton Bridge, the boats have been carrying out a variety of tasks in the most demanding of offshore conditions. Apart from carrying engineers they have been tasked with the carriage of light cargo and gases for construction.

17 metre catamarans, Island Tiger and Island Panther are proven, reliable offshore windfarm vessels. Since launch in June 2010, Island Tiger has worked on the Greater Gabbard and then Sheringham Shoal completing 618 days on the latter wind-farm, mostly on 24 hour charter.

Likewise, Island Panther completed 575 days continuous charter (mostly 24 hour) on Sheringham Shoal before moving to the Lincs assignment.

They were one of the first to feature the now industry standard Ocean 3 fender and their sticking power to the tower in 2 metre seas is highly regarded throughout the industry. For 17 metres, the vessels punch well above their weight because their large volume hulls together with high tunnel height and excellent interior spec combines for an excellent ride and ultimately crew comfort and safety.

Clients have been more than happy with the boats’ performance:

“Sheringham Shoal utilized over 18 personnel transfer vessels in various conditions and the Island Tiger and Island Panther were proven, operating in the top end of the fleet’s capability. The vessels and crews performed extremely well and proved to be reliable and professional in all that we asked of them.” SCIRA Project Manager Sheringham Shoal.
