Italy: Rimorchiatori Riuniti Receives Two New Tugs in Its Fleet

 

Two new tugs of Robert Allan design have join Rimorchiatori Riuniti Fleet.

“We are pleased to announce that on the 8th October 2011 there has been the naming ceremony of two new harbour tugs, Robert Allan design (Ramparts 2DD5 ASD type), named “NORVEGIA” and WSPAGNA” said company representative. The ceremony was held in the Genoa harbour.

With a length of 24 m and breadth molded of 11 m these new tugs have a total power of 5.2DD BHP and are able to provide a BP of 70 t.

These new tugs will be managed by Rimorchiatori Riuniti Porto di Genova Sri and will be deployed in the Genoa harbor.

Since 1922 Rimorchiatori Riuniti have been operating tugboats, those small powerfull orange vessels constantly steering through the waters of thecommercial harbour of Genoa, including new oil and containers terminals. Essential to the harbour’s activity, the tugboats not only put in and moor the arriving ships and escort them out to the open sea, no matter what weather conditions are, but also they watch over the harbour, assisting in case of fire, oil spilling and whatever occurence might endanger the safety of ships.
