Jiangsu Hantong Inks Deal to Build Up to 8 LR1 Tankers

Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co has received an order from an unnamed German owner for up to eight 74,000 DWT LR1 oil tankers.

As disclosed by the shipyard, the contract has been signed for two firm newbuildings and up to 6 additional units.

The vessels will be built in Hantong shipyard and the first vessel is slated for delivery in November, 2017.

The ships will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) and meet the H-CSR requirements. With respect to size particulars, the tankers will feature length overall of 228m, breadth moulded of 38m and the depth moulded of 19.8m.

The shipyard said that it has a 15 LR1 oil tankers in its order book scheduled for delivery within 2018.
