Larger flame part of Bechtel’s QCLNG start-up activity

Bechtel said that, as Gladstone residents could notice, there is a larger flame coming from the QCLNG flare tower.

The company said that this is a part of the routine commissioning and start-up activity. The larger flare is due to fluctuations in gas pressure during the process and a normal activity through the commissioning phase of the plant.

The flare will be typically smaller and burn smokeless in normal operations, the company said.

The larger flame is expected to continue during this week and there will be some dark smoke as the system tests continue.
