Latvia Gives More Powers to RS
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and the Maritime Administration of Latvia have signed revised annexes to the Agreement Governing the Delegation of Statutory Certification Services.
The scope of RS authorization has been extended to include the possibility to carry out surveys on behalf of the Government of Latvia, in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention for Safe Containers 1972, to review Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans and to issue International Certificates of Energy Efficiency in accordance with the Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78.
Maritime Аdministrations conclude agreements with RS on the basis of the provisions of IMO Resolutions А.739(18) ‘Guidelines for the Authorization of Organizations Acting on Behalf of the Administration’ and А.789(19) ‘Specifications on the Survey and Certification Functions of Recognized Organizations Acting on Behalf of the Administration’.
Today, RS is cooperating with the maritime administrations of 71 flag states.
