LNG bunkering station planned for Dunkirk terminal

EDF’s unit Dunkerque LNG, the operator of France’s fourth LNG import terminal, signed a deal with the port of Dunkirk to develop an LNG bunkering station at the facility. 

EDF noted in the statement that liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel for maritime and road transport made progress in new projects, with new ship orders and LNG service stations being revealed.

According to the agreement, the two companies intend to develop an LNG supply service for maritime and road transport in the port of Dunkirk, expanding the terminal’s capabilities in the process.

The Dunkirk LNG terminal with a regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic meters per year started commercial operations on January 1.

The operator, Dunkerque LNG, is 65 percent owned by France’s EDF, 25 percent by Belgium’s Fluxys and 10 percent by French Total.
