Christopher Goncalves has joined BRG’s Energy practice and will lead the firm’s LNG, natural gas, and power group in the areas of expert testimony; commercial and strategic advisory; market, economic, and financial analysis and forecasting; and regulatory advisory.

Mr. Goncalves offers over 22 years of international experience in the energy and financial industries. He has broad experience with expert analysis and testimony for international energy litigation and arbitration matters; and business advisory expertise in the areas of strategy (commercial, market, and business), contract negotiation, economic and market analysis, regulatory assessments, project development and feasibility, project financing, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and international carbon markets. He has provided these services to law firms, global energy companies, national energy companies, utilities, state energy agencies, independent developers, equity investors, and banks.

Mr. Goncalves is a seasoned industry and damages expert with advisory and testimony experience in significant international litigation and arbitration matters concerning disputed energy prices, markets, commercial standards, values, and financing requirements for energy projects, assets, contracts, and transactions. He has been retained on both investment and commercial disputes conducted under the auspices of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Dispute Resolution/American Arbitration Association (ICDR/AAA), and Milan Chamber of Commerce.

“Chris brings significant global gas and power expertise to the firm,” said BRG Chairman and Principal Executive Officer David J. Teece. “He has a deep understanding of the complex issues associated with all stages of the natural gas and LNG supply and value chains and their interrelationship with the electric generation industry.”

Mr. Goncalves has advised industry clients on large-scale energy infrastructure and commerce, including LNG, natural gas, oil, conventional power generation, and renewable energy. His experience spans over 30 countries throughout the Americas, Eastern and Western Europe, Eurasia, the Middle East, and Asia.

Also joining BRG are three senior colleagues — Barclay Gibbs, Michael Kline, and Li Li — who are active in natural gas and LNG, as well as electric energy markets, regulation, valuation, and transactions. They join more than 45 BRG energy professionals who specialize in the areas of oil and gas production and transportation, fiscal terms, valuation, transactions, and restructuring.
