Lydall Introduces New Cryogenic Insulator

Lydall Performance Materials, a division of Lydall, launched a new product addition to their Cryogenic Insulation portfolio.

Cryotherm® 233B incorporates a unique biosoluble microfiber, exclusively manufactured by Johns Manville, to address the raw material health and safety concerns of cryogenic vessel and piping manufacturers without sacrificing performance. This new product is the first cryogenic insulation available using non-biopersistent glass microfibers.

Lydall Performance Materials has long been a quality supplier of high performance cryogenic insulation products to original equipment manufacturers globally. Industry recognized products such as Cryotherm®, CRS-Wrap®and CryoLite™ have been used to insulate transport and industrial process piping as well as tanks ranging in size from portable gallon, 02 dewars to liquefied gas storage tanks over 250,000 gallons in size.

Minimizing evaporation loss of valuable liquefied gases is paramount to customers who expect to retain the maximum payload in their cryogenic vessels. These liquefied gases are stored and transported at temperatures down to -270°C and include Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, Hydrogen, Helium, and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The recent growth in LNG infrastructure driven by global energy demand and increased availability of natural gas has created a growing demand for super-insulating products. Like the original Cryotherm® products, Cryotherm 233B, in combination with reflective layers, creates a multi-layer insulation (MLI) delivering the highest thermal efficiency available for the protection of liquefied gases.
