Maroc Telecom Lays Submarine Cable Between Morocco and Spain

Maroc Telecom begins implementation of a high speed fibre-optic submarine cable connecting Morocco and Spain.

The cable known as ‘Loukkos’ should be available for service in March this year.

Alcatel Submarine Networks and CanaLink are supplying the cable which will link Asilah in Morocco along with Rota in Spain.

The cable value is USD 16 Million and it will have the 80Gbps capacity with the upgrading option to 1.28Tbps.

Maroc Telecom operates a portion of the current undersea fibre-optic cable Estepona-Tetouan linking Spain and Morocco, while the telco is the owner of the Atlas Offshore submarine cable connecting Asilah in Morocco with Marseille, France.
