Finland-based shipbuilder Meyer Turku has seen its net profit for 2016 reach EUR 25 million, jumping by some 66 percent from EUR 15 million reported in 2015, as the company witnessed “another profitable year.”

The company’s revenue surged by 33 percent ending the year at EUR 792 million, compared to a revenue of EUR 594 million seen a year earlier.

Meyer Turku informed that it “is on a good and also economically sustainable path with Meyer family ownership since late 2014.”

“The rise of Turku shipyard under Meyer leadership has been swift,” the shipbuilder said, adding that the growth “is economically healthy and sustainable with a stable order book reaching until 2024.”

“We are well on our growth path and these reasonable profits give us an opportunity to further invest into the shipyard and also to build up an even stronger shipbuilding team with further recruitments,” Jan Meyer, Meyer Turku CEO, said.

Meyer Turku Oy, which build cruise ships, car-passenger ferries and special vessels, is currently constructing cruise ships for TUI Cruises. The company will also build two cruise ships for Costa Crociere, Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean International.
