Modec Orders FPSO Modules from Aibel Thailand

Aibel Thailand has been awarded a letter of intent by Modec. The work is to deliver modules to an offshore production vessel.  The estimated value of the contract is 20 million US dollars (approximately NOK 110 million).

“This is an important contract to our office in Thailand. It secures work for us in Laem Chabang until the end of 2012,” says President and CEO in Aibel Jan Skogseth.

Delivering eight modules

The floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) has been named OSX-3. It is to be installed and operate offshore the Waikiki Pero Inga Fields in Brazil.

Aibel is to deliver eight modules weighing a total of 8000 tonnes.

“Aibel Thailand has specialized in the construction of FPSO modules, and this is the third module contract we are awarded by Modec. We appreciate the confidence Modec continues to show us,” says Skogseth.

He refers to Aibel’s deliveries in the projects Tupi and Guara. In the latter, the last six of eleven modules left the yard at the end of October.

The work on OSX-3 starts up in December. In December next year the modules are to leave the yard in Laem Chabang.
