MV Dione Joins Pan8 Bulker Pool

Business & Finance

Singapore-headquartered pool operator Navig8 has added MV Dione, owned by European energy trading company RWE Supply & Trading GMBH, into its Pan8 panamax-bulker pool.

The bulk carrier, flying the Greece flag, was built in 2001 and disposes 75,172 DWT.

“Pool participation by RWE represents Navig8’s further engagement with one of the world’s most sophisticated energy traders,” Navig8 said.

As explained by Navig8, revenue and risk pooling with Navig8 provides another instrument for traders to manage freight risk.

RWE trades over 700 million tonnes of physical and financial coal per annum globally. The company’s trading activities include power, gas, coal, freight, oil, weather, emissions certificates and renewable energies.

It is also responsible for the economic optimisation of the entire non-regulated gas business of the RWE Group, including all procurement, transport, storage and LNG-related activities.

“Whilst partners such as RWE may contribute vessels to the pool, the ongoing information exchange between the platform and partner is of particular value to both sides,” the pool operator said.
