Namaka Subsea Launches Training Department

Namaka Subsea, an Aberdeen based subsea consulting company, has added Training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to their portfolio of services, offered to the industry on a global basis.

Training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) play a crucial part of the development of personnel competencies, as well as providing additional knowledge to the workforce. Therefore Namaka Subsea have worked closely with one of the leading international education providers to develop a range of training courses to assist with career development and the provision of a competent workforce, the company explained in a press release.

To support this new initiative, Namaka Subsea have expanded the support team as well as moving into a larger facility.

Tony McConnell has joined as Training Manager and will oversee the expansion of the Training Department, with courses scheduled for April 2015. Tony, joined the Royal Air Force as a teenager as an Aircraft Mechanic, then went on to complete his Hons Degree in Engineering Management.  He then furthered his career by joining the ROV industry by taking on a number of roles including ROV Supervisor, Auditor and Client Representative, as well as providing training to the industry.

Kerry French has also joined the company in the role of Office Administrator. Kerry who has a background in the diving and drilling industries in various roles, including document control and personnel officer, will oversee the implementation and running of Namaka Subsea’s business management system, as well as supporting the newly developed training department.

Sandy Harper, Namaka Subsea’s Managing Director said, “The provision of training as well as our other services was part of our strategy to support the subsea industry. We also identified that training is not only required for the subsea industry but all industries. Therefore we have worked closely with one of the leading international education providers to provide a range of training courses including bespoke courses for the subsea industry.”

“To assist with the development of the company we have relocated to a larger facility in the centre of Aberdeen and are pleased to welcome Tony and Kerry as new members of the team.”
