Naples Beaches to Receive New Sand

A $2.7 million beach renourishment project on Naples beaches is slated to start today.

Two contracts were recently approved by the Board of County Commissioners for the project that will place nearly 79 tons (52,000 cubic yards) of beach quality sand along the beach from 18th Avenue South to just south of Doctor’s Pass.

The sand replacement is in response to damages created by Tropical Storm Debbie which blew through Collier County in late June of 2012.

Hours of operation are planned to be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays. No work is planned on Sundays nor over the Thanksgiving holidays of Nov. 27 through Nov. 30.

The project is expected to be completed before the Christmas holidays.
