NHC Launches Diving and Subsea Training Courses in Middle East and South Africa

A specialist North-east oil and gas industry support and training facility has launched new subsea related courses in the Middle East and South Africa as part of the company’s global expansion plans to meet growing demand from clients.

The Aberdeen-based National Hyperbaric Centre (NHC), which already delivers training in Baku, Brazil, and Spain, has joined forces with Unique System FZE in the United Arab Emirates and Unique Hydra in South Africa, to launch the new courses as part of the expansion of its subsea training department.

The centre offers a number of specialist training courses for commercial diving industry personnel and those looking to enter the diving industry, and it is anticipated that the, OGP Client Representative course, Dive Systems Auditing and Assurance course, and Dive Technician course will prove to be the most popular with candidates in the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

Training business development co-ordinator, Katie Davies said: “The courses have been launched in the new locations to meet growing demand from clients. We regularly have delegates at our Aberdeen facility from around the globe and the development of these training courses in foreign locations greatly reduces the financial impact on our candidates as it brings down their traveling costs.”

Following the successful introduction into these regions the National Hyperbaric Centre will be focusing on further expansion in the United States and India over the coming years as part of its global expansion plan.

Commenting on behalf of Unique, Ian Huggins General Manager USFZE said: “As a diving equipment supplier, this is a natural additional service to our mutual clients in these regions, and we have seen very high interest in the courses that are being offered”.

The NHC, which is a privately owned company, has been operating in the North-east for more than 20 years and delivers a range of services including specialised training courses, testing and trial facilities, research and development, auditing, diving medical support, equipment certification, senior consultancy and lifeboat reception.

It is currently the only hyperbaric centre of its kind in the UK and boasts a team of experts with a wealth of knowledge in the oil and gas industry.
