Nigeria: Main One Cable Plans to Broaden Submarine Cable Beyond Lagos

Main One Cable is planning to broaden its submarine cable infrastructure to provide reliable high speed broadband services beyond Lagos.

According to the company’s CEO Funke Opeke, Main One is documenting increasing broadband demand on everyday basis.

Opeke told the reporters that there are also plans to expand the cable down the coastline to South Africa and link it with the Seacom cable.

Existing cable has a capacity of 1.92 terabits per second and provides open-access broadband solutions in Nigeria and Ghana.

It extends from Lagos through Accra to Seixal in Portugal and branches out in Ivory Coast, Senegal, the Canary Islands and Morocco.
