Norway: AGR Secures Contract Extension for RMR with Total

AGR Secures Contract Extension for RMR with Total

One of the largest operators in the UK sector of the North Sea has extended its contract for AGR’s Riserless Mud Recovery system (RMR™) by four years.  TOTAL E&P UK’s multiple-well deal with Norwegian solutions provider AGR also includes the firm’s Cutting Transportation System (CTS).

The extension, worth approximately £4.5m (NOK40m), takes the contract period up to the end of July 2015.

Total E&P UK, an exploration and production subsidiary of the TOTAL Group, was an early adopter of RMR™ technology, first signing up to the system in 2006. This latest contract extension follows an earlier one made in 2009.

David Hine, EVP of AGR’s Enhanced Drilling Solutions, said: “We’re delighted with the continued commitment to our technologies and services by Total E&P UK. It is also a further endorsement of the added value created through our RMR™ and CTS™ solutions.”

RMR™ has been an industry changer since it was introduced. It enables engineered mud to be used in the top-hole section of a well, with all mud and cuttings being returned to the rig. The top-hole section can be drilled more safely, quickly and with far less impact on the environment.

CTS™, meanwhile, enables operators to take cuttings, cement, mud, clay and other deposits away from the well area, keeping templates debris free. Because of this, it has had a major impact on the validity of drilling operations in areas that have been deemed as being particularly environmentally sensitive.

AGR will soon surpass the 500-well landmark for the deployment of its RMR ™and CTS ™ systems.
