Norway: Jan LNG Exports Slide

Norway exported 440,946 mt of LNG in January, according to the trade statistics.

LNG exports in January dropped 2.9%, compared with last year, when the country exported 454,007 mt of LNG.

Norway exports liquefied natural gas through Hammerfest LNG terminal, located on the island Melkøya.

Statoil, the operator of the LNG terminal, said on January 20 that it has resumed production at the Hammerfest LNG plant following a temporary shutdown due to rupture of a firewater line.

The Hammerfest LNG terminal has a design capacity of 4.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

Commissioned in 2007, it processes gas transported through 143-km pipeline from the subsea facilities on the Snøhvit and Albatross fields, which comprise the first offshore developments in the Barents Sea.
