Norway: Kleven Maritime to Deliver Platform Supply Vessel to Ugland Offshore

Kleven Maritime to Deliver Platform Supply Vessel to Ugland Offshore

Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with offshore ship owning company Ugland Offshore on the delivery of a platform supply vessel of SALT 100 PSV design. The vessel is to be delivered from Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik Q1 2014. The contract also includes an option for a second vessel.

Currently Kleven Maritime’s yard Myklebust Verft has a PSV of VS 485 MK II design under construction for Ugland, to be delivered end June this year.

The new vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design AS at Stord, Norway, is 88.9 m long, 20 m in width and with accommodation for 24 persons. The new Salt 100 design includes a number of new solutions, and is tailor made to meet oil companies’ requirements for modern PSVs. Salt 100 combines innovation in design and technology to improve operating costs, improve safety and secure more efficient operations. Fuel consumption is low, and the vessel will be the first of its kind to incorporate a new and more efficient cargo handling solution.

We highly appreciate that Ugland again has chosen a Kleven-built vessel for their fleet,” says Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven Maritime. “This is a vote of confidence to everyone in our organisation. Ugland is a company with strong traditions in the maritime industry, and we look forward to continuing the great cooperation we have established.”

J.J.Ugland (JJUC) returned to the offshore industry when they established Ugland Offshore in 2011. Ugland also owns bulk handling vessels, shuttle tankers and barges, and is involved in other maritime business.

Kleven Maritime has an order book comprising 12 vessels with a total value of around 6 billion NOK.
