Norway’s CCB and Safe Yards team up for rig winterization

Norwegian base for supply activities to the petroleum fields, Coast Center Base (CCB), and Safe Yards have entered into a close cooperation agreement for the winterization of drilling rigs.

The two companies said in a joint statement that the cooperation agreement was signed on Friday, May 26.

Sveinung Vethe, project manager for CCB Yard Services, said: “[This was] a strategic choice. This will strengthen our efforts in rebuilding and winterizing projects at all our locations.”

“With this agreement in place, both parties will be able to use each other’s facilities. The cooperation enables CCB and Safe Yards to provide rig maintenance services, including large-scale winterization across the entire Norwegian coast and Las Palmas. This strengthens both companies’ position and will help to provide an even better and more complete offer to our customers.”

Safe Yards has its headquarters in Sandnes, but also has facilities in Kristiansand. In addition to these two locations, Safe Yards has established a testing center in St. John’s, Canada, which includes an indoor equipment testing facility for temperatures as low as -60 degrees Celsius.
