Ocean Tankers in for Up to Ten More Ships

Ocean Tankers has returned to Chinese yard Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. for up to ten Handy-size tankers, Reuters reported citing a company spokesperson.

The order includes six firm newbuildings of 23,500 dwt and options for four additional units. The delivery is set for late 2020, as informed.

The financial details of the deal have not been revealed.

The latest order brings Ocean Tankers’ newbuilding tally to 28, with 12 more optional units, the spokesperson said.

The new contract comes on the back of the November order for up to ten small chemical tankers at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding.

The order was also comprised of six firm plus four optional 11,000 dwt chemical tankers slated for delivery in 2019 and 2020.

The Singapore-based company has been very busy with the expansion of its chemical product tanker fleet over the recent period.

The Singapore-based shipping company has a fleet of over 100 oil tankers of various sizes, including 14 VLCCs and 22 MRs.
