Oceanlinx, an Australian wave energy company, is in the process of planning the removal of its wave energy generator southwest of Adelaide.

The so-called “greenWAVE“ unit was damaged last month during tow operations  in shallow waters and now it is stranded off the coast of Carrickalinga.

The Transport Department has met with the Carrickalinga residents and explained how it could take up to a year to remove the generator unit.

Oceanlinx, together with The Transport Department, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Environment Protection Authority, is working on finding the best solution to safely evacuate the generator from the bay.

Other security measures will be undertaken, including divers, to remove possible residue from the bottom, and safety buoys.
