Odessa Port Deepening Completed

Recent dredging works in the waters of Khlebnaya and Quarantine harbors of the port of Odessa, including the berth No.20 of the passenger terminal, have been completed successfully, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).

The works were performed by the USPA owned hopper dredger ‘Meotida’. With a length of 59,20 m and breadth of 11,00 m, the vessel is fully automatic and can reach a maximum speed of 9,5 knots.

The ‘Meotida’ uses a 400 mm trailing suction pipe to perform maintenance dredging tasks up to a maximum depth of 15 m in the harbor and its navigation channel.

According to experts of the Chief Engineer Service of the port of Odessa, the dredging works are essential and provide the design depth at the berths which enables handling ships safely and efficiently.
