OSM Maritime founder steps up to chief executive position

Norwegian marine-services provider OSM Maritime Group has appointed the founder of the company as its chief executive officer.

OSM said that founder and chairman Bjørn Tore Larsen took up the position as CEO with effect from March 4, 2019.

Larsen, who is also the controlling shareholder of the company, previously held this position up to 2013.

Regarding the appointment, Larsen said: “I am looking forward to working even closer with the management team and all colleagues at OSM.”

The company added that the current CEO Geir Sekkesaeter would continue as the managing director of OSM Norway and responsible for the Arendal-based operations of the Group.

“We are grateful for Geir’s contribution to OSM as the CEO over the last six years. We are also very happy to see Geir in his new role where he will be focusing on further strengthening ship management, rig management, and crew management operations done out of Arendal,” Larsen added.

Sekkesaeter added: “I am very pleased to continue working for OSM and to focus even more on our services and activities out of Arendal, one of the main centers of OSM’s global operation.”

OSM has 11,000 employees and operates more than 500 ships and offshore units.
