Cable ship Pacific Guardian began repair work on September 20th to fix Maya-1 submarine cable which provides internet services to Cayman Islands.

Telecommunications company LIME announced the failure of the cable in July, and the damaged part was found near Half Moon Bay, Cayman27 reports.

During the repair work the cable will be shut down and the traffic will be re-routed to the Cayman-Jamaica subsea line.

As Compasscayman reports, the work is expected to last through Tuesday.
