Palfinger Receives Yunlin Crane Order

Palfinger Marine has secured a contract to deliver 81 lay-down boom cranes for wpd’s Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

Under the contract, Palfinger will supply 80 of its PF12000-4.6 LDB cranes for the turbines, while one will be installed onshore for training purposes.

Each of the turbine platforms will be equipped with one fixed boom crane, which has an outreach of 4.6m and a lifting capacity of 1t, the company said.

According to Palfinger, as long as the crane is serviced regularly, no spare parts will be needed if it is used for typical offshore wind applications for around two years.

Yunlin will comprise 80 Siemens Gamesa turbines of the 8MW class located 8km off the Taiwanese west coast.

The 640MW project is 73% owned by wpd and 27% owned by a Sojitz Corp-led consortium which includes Chugoku Electric Power, Chudenko Corporation, Shikoku Electric Power, and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation.

Project completion is scheduled for December 2021.
