Petrobras Begins Production on FPSO Cidade de Anchieta Offshore Brazil

On September 10, at around 6 pm, Petrobras’ FPSO Cidade de Anchieta began producing oil from well 7-BAZ-02-ESS. This floating production, storage and offloading platform is located in the Baleia Azul field, in the area known as Parque das Baleias in the Campos Basin off the coast of Espírito Santo.

The Cidade de Anchieta is a dedicated pre-salt production platform for the Baleia Azul, Jubarte and Pirambu fields, for which Petrobras holds 100% of the concession.

FPSO Cidade de Anchieta will produce oil of high commercial value (28º API). It is chartered to SBM Services Inc. and is capable of processing 100,000 barrels of oil and 3.5 million m3 of gas per day. The platform is operating in a water column of 1,221 meters, 80 km off the coast. The natural gas it produces will be output through the Capixaba North-South pipeline to the Natural Gas Treatment Facility in Cacimbas, on the coast of Espírito Santo.

Initial production from the existing well is estimated at 20,000 barrels per day. A further 9 wells (6 production and 3 water injection) are to be connected to the platform. Peak production of 100,000 barrels per day by is expected by February 2013.

FPSO Cidade de Anchieta was converted at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore and is part of the Parque das Baleias pre-salt development project.
