Petrobras: Platform P-62 Starts Production in Roncador Field

Petrobras started-up production on platform P-62 in the Campos Basin’s Roncador field. This is one of the strategic projects in the 2014-2018 Business and Management Plan.

Petrobras Platform P-62 Starts Production in Roncador Field

Deployed at a water depth of 1,600 meters, P-62 is an integral part of the Module 4 project for the Roncador field. Twenty-two wells, 14 oil and gas production and eight water-injection, will be connected to the platform.

The platform, also known as a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) has capacity to process up to 180,000 barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Oil will be taken off the platform by shuttle tankers, and natural gas via a pipeline connecting the platform to the Campos Basin gas distribution network.

Platform construction work created 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs, with local content reaching 63%.

The platform’s oil processing and gas compression modules were built in Rio de Janeiro and taken to the Estaleiro Atlântico Sul (EAS) shipyard in Ipojuca, Pernambuco state, where the electrical panels and main power generation modules were built and all modules integrated to the platform’s hull.

The new platform will operate in conjunction with production platforms P-52, P-54 and P-55, already deployed in the Roncador field.

Technical Specifications of P-62:
– Oil processing capacity: 180,000 bpd;
