Petrofac reaches safety milestone

Petrofac, a UK-based oilfield services provider, has reached a safety milestone off the coast of Malaysia.

The company has reported that its Berantai field team has surpassed the 1 million man hour mark of safe offshore operations without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).

Petrofac is working at the Berantai with partners Sapura Kencana under the Risk Service Contract (RSC) awarded by Petronas in Malaysia in 2011.

The field has operated for more than 961 days safely since hitting both first gas in late 2012 and first oil in early 2013. The total hours also include completion work done by contractors and vendors.

Hanif Hashim, Asset Manager for Berantai, congratulated the team responsible for achieving the milestone: “Safety is at the core of our values. Congratulations on the feat and I hope we continue this trend in the future.”

The Berantai field is located in Block PM 309 in the Malaysian sector of the South China Sea, 195 km from Kemaman Supply Base, offshore Terengganu Malaysia.
