Malaysian energy giant Petronas, through its unit Malaysia LNG, signed a 10-yeal liquefied natural gas supply deal with the Japanese utility Hokkaido Electric Power.

Under the terms of the agreement, MLNG will deliver up to 130,000 metric tons of LNG per year to HKE receiving facilities.

The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur by Petronas’ chairman Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib and HKE’s executive VP Yutaka Fuji.

MLNG operates the nine-train Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The ninth liquefaction train at the Petronas LNG complex started operations in January this year.

With the addition of the Train 9, the Petronas LNG Complex now has the capacity to produce approximately 30 million tons per year.
