Petronas Selects Airborne's Offshore Flowline Solution (Malaysia)

Airborne Oil & Gas recently won a contract with Petronas, for the qualification of several offshore flowline systems.

Petronas has selected Airborne’s Thermoplastic Composite Pipe concept to become one of their principal offshore flowline solutions for hydrocarbon production.

Rosli Tompang, Senior Manager at Petronas Carigali: “We believe that Airborne has the technology and capabilities to qualify and deliver non-metallic flowlines and risers, and look forward to a fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Airborne’s technology offers a corrosion free pipe, which combines collapse resistance with a smooth bore and spoolability. The small Minimum Bend Radius enables fast and cost effective installation offshore. Avoiding the need for an annulus, the simple pipe structure allows for fast and secure qualification.

Eric van der Meer, Managing Director of Airborne Oil & Gas: “Petronas is an ambitious and innovative oil major, we are delighted to commence this programme with them. We are confident we can deliver the solutions Petronas is looking for.”

The multi-year qualification project commences in summer 2012 and will yield the world’s first fully qualified offshore thermoplastic composite flowline.
