PGNiG Appoints VPs of Management Board

Supervisory Board of Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA resolved to appoint Mr Krzysztof Bocian as Vice-President of the Management Board for Exploration & Production, and Mr Jacek Murawski as Vice-President of the Management Board, Chief Financial Officer.

In the process the Supervisory Board was assisted by Amrop, a specialist senior staff recruitment consultancy.

The newly appointed Vice-Presidents will assume their positions at PGNiG SA starting from April 1st 2013. Their term of office runs to March 13th 2014, as in the case of the other members of the PGNiG Management Board.

The Supervisory Board’s decision to fill the position of Vice-President for Exploration & Production is closely related to PGNiG’s strategic objective of increasing production of conventional and unconventional oil and gas from domestic sources. In recent months, the PGNiG Management Board has successfully reorganised the exploration and production division, supervised over that time by Mr Mirosław Szkałuba, Vice-President of the Management Board for IT and Procurement. One of the results of those efforts was the establishment of the Geology and Operation Branch. Furthermore, the PGNiG Management Board has designed an ambitious exploration programme, whose success will depend on the maximum involvement of the Management Board Member put in charge of the upstream operations, as was the case until May 2012.

There were four candidates competing for the position of Vice-President of the Management Board for Exploration & Production.

As for the competition held to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer, it was announced in connection with the fact that the existing CFO, Mr Sławomir Hinc, intends to assume the position of President/CEO of PGNiG Norway with effect from April 1st 2013.

The latter competition was entered by six candidates.

Mr Krzysztof Bocian is a graduate of Stanford University, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management, as well as a diploma in Public Management Program (PMP) in Government. He studied at the Vienna University of Economics and WSB-NLU (Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu – National-Louis University).

Mr Bocian has international experience in all three (upstream, midstream and downstream) sectors of the oil & gas industry. During his career he was involved in energy projects executed on four continents. In 2008, he joined the Chevron Corporation, where he worked in Upstream & Gas in the United States and UK, and – most recently – Poland. His responsibilities ranged from strategy and planning to asset development and restructuring, first at the company’s head office in California, and then at its offices in Houston and London. From 2010, he was involved in the commercialisation and development of shale gas projects in Europe, working from the London and Warsaw offices. From 2003 to 2006, he worked for PKN ORLEN S.A., with responsibilities including strategy, restructuring and business development projects.

He is a member of the Lesław A. Paga Foundation and founder of the Capital Market Leaders Academy.

Mr Jacek Murawski graduated from the faculty of finance and accounting and completed a post-graduate programme in enterprise value management at the Warsaw School of Economics. He holds an EMBA from the Helsinki School of Economics. He has participated in a number of training courses in finance, management, marketing, and IT, including programmes run by INSEAD, the Ashridge Management Centre, Management Center Europe, France Telecom University and many others.

Over the twenty years of his career, Mr Murawski has held senior positions at various companies. In the years 1990-1995, he was responsible for finance at Bantex Poland sp. z o.o. In 1995-2001, he served as Financial Controller and Management Board Member at Polskie Książki Telefoniczne sp. z o.o., as well as Chief Accountant at Polkomtel S.A., and then CFO at Tchibo Warszawa sp. z o.o.

In the period 2001-2007, he was in charge of finance and administration as Member of the Management Board, CFO at PTK Centertel sp. z o.o., operator of the Orange mobile telephony network. In 2007-2008, he was President of the Management Board at Wirtualna Polska S.A., the owner of Poland’s leading online news portal.

In 2006-2007, he was also Vice-President of the Employers of Poland organisation. Later on in his career, Mr Murawski was involved in investment and advisory activities in Poland and Central Europe as an Investment Partner in Poland’s leading venture capital fund MCI Management S.A. He concurrently served as member of the supervisory and management boards, as well as Interim CFO, of the group’s portfolio companies both in Poland and the Czech Republic.
