The first such operation has been completed in September, both times for the Gascontrol Polska, PGNiG said in a statement.

The availability of the operation at the terminal opens LNG trading opportunities, PGNiG said, adding that it also enables the chilled fuel to be transported by road, rail or waterway.

The implementation of LNG loadings into ISO-containers follows the signing of a pilot agreement between PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny and Gascontrol Polska.

Dariusz Jarczyk gas market director Gascontrol Polska, said that the pair completed testing the solution which resulted in the two ISO-container loadings.

PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny, a unit of PGNiG, carries out LNG loadings at the gas station in Świnoujście using a fleet of tankers owned by the PGNiG Group.

By the end of September 2018, the company had completed 565 loads with a total weight of nearly 10,000 tons.
