PGNiG: no spot LNG cargoes planned for July

Polish Gas and Oil Company (PGNiG) has no plans to buy spot LNG during the month of July, according to its deputy chief Maciej Woźniak.

The company has already booked one spot cargo through a tender issued in May. It will be delivered by Statoil from its Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkoya island aboard the 147,980 cbm Arctic Princess on June 25.

Wozniak said the Statoil cargo is enough for the time being and that further spot purchases will be made in case of favorable market opportunities or portfolio needs, Reuters reports.

The first commercial cargo to the Swinoujście LNG terminal has been delivered on Friday, June 17, aboard the Q-flex LNG carrier Al Nuaman from Qatar under the 20-year deal.

The LNG terminal in Swinoujście is designed to receive, regasify and supply of up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Polish transmission grid, and PGNiG has secured 1 mtpa of LNG from Qatar.

The second cargo from Qatar is expected in mid-July with one cargo to be delivered each month for the remainder of the year.

PGNiG has not responded to an email by LNG World News, seeking clarification on the matter, by the time this article was published.
