Platinum Yacht Repair, the yacht repair and maintenance arm of Drydocks World & Maritime World, announced the successful completion of the conversion of landing craft Al Hail1.

The 54-metre vessel, belonging to Dubai-based M/S Royal Yachts, arrived at the Platinum Yacht Repair facility at Dubai Maritime City in June 2013 and underwent extensive modification and refit.

With the unprecedented development taking place in the region and in Dubai in particular, which is reinforced by its Expo 2020 win, more marinas are expected to be developed and hence more yachts will be available in the region. This calls for readily accessible and sophisticated repair and maintenance facilities. The Platinum Yacht Repair facility not only addresses this niche’ segment but also caters to small-to mid-size vessels that require refit and refurbishment,” said His Excellency, Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World.

The work scope on Al Hail 1 included refurbishment on exterior of hull as well as interiors, hydro-blasing and painting, overhaul of equipment and valves, refurbishment of wheelhouse, toilets and vacuum systems, upgrade of generators and new synchronizing and A/C systems, fly bridge and canopy fabric were fitted, seating arrangements were made of fibre or cushion.

The equipment was tested and the sea trial was successful.
