PLOCAN to Host Glider Training Week in November

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has announced the 8th edition of the Glider School, the hands-on training forum on ocean-glider technology, which will be held as usual in Gran Canaria, Spain, during the second week of November.

The educational contents of the Glider School will cover both hardware and software aspects using specialised theoretical and practical sessions in the classroom, the laboratory and in open water.

Using real ocean gliders of various types (Waveglider, Sailbuoy, Slocum, Seaglider and Seaexplorer), the course will focus on the features of each ocean glider technology, its capabilities and applications.

This specialised training week represents a great opportunity for students and professionals to learn about the main commercial ocean-glider technologies, with direct teaching support from leading manufacturers of ocean gliders, sensors and other modules that integrate with these state-of-the-art, unmanned ocean observation platforms.

Applications for registration are still being accepted.
