Polarcus Wraps Up 3D PSTM in 18 Hours

Norway’s Polarcus has completed its first commercial onboard broadband fast track data processing project for one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies, setting a new standard for turnaround.

A 1,750 square kilometer broadband 3D volume was successfully processed through pre-stack time migration (“PSTM”) onboard the Polarcus seismic vessel within 24 days after the last shot point (“LSP”), with the PSTM being completed in just 18 hours.

Commenting on the achievement, Phil Fontana, Polarcus Chief Geophysicist, said: “The rapid turnaround of this high quality broadband 3D PSTM volume so soon after last shot we believe sets a new standard for advanced onboard data processing.

“This will enable our client to analyze their data much faster than was previously possible, helping them save both time and money in their evaluation.”
