Popular News, June 8 - 14, 2015

This week’s most popular Offshore Energy Today article is the one on Chevron hitting more hurdles with its Big Foot project in the Gulf of Mexico. Namely, more subsea tendons, which were to be used for the mooring of the Big Foot platform, sank to the bottom of the sea, delaying first oil from the project indefinitely.

A story on Petrobras potentially cancelling two FPSO orders after a dispute with contractors was the second most read article of the week. Furthermore, news on lay offs in Europe sparked your interest, with Royal IHC, FMC Technologies, Aker Solutions and Statoil all cutting workforce.

You also read of a major win for Norwegian construction sector as Kvaerner, together with the U.S.-based KBR, beat competition to win an$843 million contract for for construction of the topside for the utility and living quarter platform at the Johan Sverdrup field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Among the more popular stories were also the one on Chevron moving to 3/3 rota in the North Sea, and the one on Pemex making significant oil finds in the Gulf of Mexico.
