Port Manchac Development Plan Awaits DOTD Approval

According to hammondstar.com, a South Tangipahoa Port Commission’s $1.5 million development plan for the Manchac Port has been submitted to DOTD and is awaiting approval.

This plan includes a new steel wall bulkhead and lay down yard,” said William Evans Jr., the engineer who designed the port’s bulkhead, dredging and lay down area improvement project.

Pat Dufresne, executive director of the port, stated that the majority of the dredged material will be mixed with soil and pumped to the south end to build up the sheet pile bulkhead and rock bulkheads to reclaim what has been compromised through storm surges over time.
